The Business Hive Academy Digital Book Club

“Any time women come together with a collective intention, it’s a powerful thing. Whether it’s sitting down making a quilt, in a kitchen preparing a meal, in a club reading the same book, or around the table playing cards, or planning a birthday party, when women come together with a collective intention, magic happens.”   ~ Phylicia Rashad

Our Book Club Story…

When Angela and Erica met, one of the first interests that they shared and were excited about was their love of books.  Angela had tried to join a book club when she first moved to Austin and Erica had always wanted to be a part of one.  When other book clubs failed to help them grow their circle of supportive, empowering women they knew what they had to do: Start their own.

The very first book club they hosted was small, just 5 or 6 women. But after just three months, the Facebook group they had started grew to 100 women. All who shared a love of books.  The group evolved and became what it is today – The B Hive Apiary, a women’s social community, grown with love to help women make authentic friendships with other women.

As The B Hive Apiary grew, Angela and Erica knew that there was so much more they could do to impact the amazing women around them but also the women who didn’t live in Austin, begging to be a part of a community like The B Hive Apiary. And The Business Hive Academy came to be – a community to support women in their businesses, their careers and their lives.

But they felt like something was missing – a core piece of what The B Hive Apiary was from the very beginning!

A Book Club!

Back to the roots of what started The B Hive Apiary – a book club is now a main part of what The Business Hive Academy is and how it will support the women who are members of this community.

How It Works:

  1. We announce the book! Yay!
  2. We release a Chapter Schedule – Each week we read just a few chapters, we know as entrepreneurs it can be challenging to read a whole book by a certain date, breaking down our books into bite sized pieces makes it easier to consume!
  3. Every Wednesday we go live in our Facebook Group and discuss the weeks chapters with you all!
  4. The very last week of chapters, we host an online book club via Zoom to connect with each other virtually and discuss the book in depth!

What We’re Currently Reading

Girl Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis

Synopsis via Good Reads:

With wry wit and hard-earned wisdom, popular online personality and founder of TheChicSite.com founder Rachel Hollis helps readers break free from the lies keeping them from the joy-filled and exuberant life they are meant to have.

Founder of the lifestyle website TheChicSite.com and CEO of her own media company, Chic Media, Rachel Hollis has created an online fan base of hundreds of thousands of fans by sharing tips for living a better life while fearlessly revealing the messiness of her own. Now comes her highly anticipated first book featuring her signature combination of honesty, humor, and direct, no-nonsense advice.

Each chapter of Girl, Wash Your Face begins with a specific lie Hollis once believed that left her feeling overwhelmed, unworthy, or ready to give up. As a working mother, a former foster parent, and a woman who has dealt with insecurities about her body and relationships, she speaks with the insight and kindness of a BFF, helping women unpack the limiting mind-sets that destroy their self-confidence and keep them from moving forward.

From her temporary obsession with marrying Matt Damon to a daydream involving hypnotic iguanas to her son’s request that she buy a necklace to “be like the other moms,” Hollis holds nothing back. With unflinching faith and tenacity, Hollis spurs other women to live with passion and hustle and to awaken their slumbering goals.
